January Weigh-In

Last week Jack and Ivy had their first weigh in for the year. They don't seem to be getting any happier about being put on the scales every month, and pretty soon they won't be able to fit on our little scales anymore!

Ivy continues to be heavier than Jack and is now a healthy 34grams, an increase of 6grams from her last weigh-in.

It's difficult to tell, but I think Ivy is still about 26cm in length.

Jack is now 31grams, 5grams up from his last weigh-in, which is an increase of approx 20% of his body weight.

I didn't do a very good job getting a clear pic when measuring Jack. I think he's roughly 24cm in length, which is the same as his Dec length. Perhaps he's a few mm longer now.

  1. Hmmm, interesting. I think you're getting enough information to produce some kind of statistical analysis on the matter. Or at least a nice looking graph no?

Come on now, lets get some science into this!

  2. Hey Guys we have just bought our two juvenile dragons this morning! They are two months old and we cannot find any great information on how many hatchling crickets to feed them in a day? What were you doing at this agebecause any advice would be great! we are totally captivated by our pair and hope they turn out to be one male and one female so we can have the different colours and easily tell the diff between them. So glad we finally have them :) your two are loooking great!

  3. Hey Cathy, great to hear you have your own dragons now. They are pretty awesome little guys!
We hand fed Jack and Ivy from the start so we knew exactly how many crickets they were eating each. It also means you don't have heaps of live food running around their enclosure or escaping into your house :) (you usually find them in your clothes). I never really put an exact number on how many to feed, as long as they are eating and not looking fat - you're doing ok. The most important thing to remember is to vary their diet. Crickets are a great staple, but you should offer them woodies, moths, slaters etc. as well and remember - NO MEALWORMS, these can cause digestive problems. You can try and feed them fruit too, but ours didn't start eating fruit till they were a bit older. Vitamin and calcium powder should be applied to their food items occasionally too. Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask any more questions :)
